Hornersville, MO - Class of '57

2010 Reunion, Jonesboro, AR - Friday, May 28

Update by Jim McCaleb

March 17, 2010

Fellow Classmates:

Another year has passed and it is time to make preparations for another Class of '57 Reunion.   Marion & Kaye Bunch have requested to host our Class Reunion on Friday May 28th.   I have checked with Jim & Ann Hart and they will be hosting the usual All-Class Reunion at the Hornersville Community Center on Saturday May 29th.   Jim is planning on cooking barbecue for the occasion.   It is my understanding that a few other classes will be celebrating their class reunions on the same weekend so it should be a good opportunity to visit with members of the Hornersville Alumni from several classes.

This year's class reunion will be held just East of Jonesboro on Highway 18.   There are many nice hotels in Jonesboro for those of you requiring hotel accommodations. Most of the hotels in Jonesboro are located within a few blocks of intersection of US Hwy 63 (East & West) & US Hwy 49 North (Stadium Blvd).   Claudine and I plan on staying at the Hampton Inn.

All of the above hotels are within a few blocks of each other.   Caraway Road parallels Stadium Blvd. to the West.

The large Jonesboro Mall is located on the Northeast corner of Stadium Drive (US 49) & East Highland Drive (Business Route US 63 & Arkansas 18).

If you drive East toward Lake City on 18 from Stadium Drive, you will cross East Nettleton Avenue, & the Frisco Rail Road Tracks.   Continue East through the Industrial Park, passing Irby St, Arch St, Watt St, Conveyor St, another Rail Road Track, Cotton St, Shirley Ann Dr, Maurice St, Kathleen St, & Industrial Drive.

Continue driving East on Hwy 18 past Hytrol Dr., Amanda St, Dara Dr, Pausch Dr, Commerce, Margol, Moore Rd, Easley Ln, Heath Lane, Hwy 905, Hwy 905 Nestle Way, Great Dane Dr., Grisham Rd, Hwy 911, Quality Way, and just past Hwy 912.

Congratulations:   Your destination is on the left.   You will find a long row of metal airplane hangers on the left with a grass airstrip running North and South.   Our meeting location is in the first building of the hangers.

Here is a website with an aerial photo and map of   Marty's Classic Airstrip.

If you pass Hwy 919, turn around you have gone too far!

I suspect the entire distance from the corner of Stadium Drive & Hwy 18 (Where the Mall is located) is probably about five miles but don't hold me to the exact mileage.

Marion and elves will be cooking catfish, barbecue or something else for the meeting.

At the last two meetings we began gathering anytime after 10:00 AM and stayed until around 5:00 PM so come prepared for a good time this year.   I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion on Friday.

I've been trying to persuade Bud to provide the entertainment this year but so far he has declined.   Anyone wanting to undertake this part of the program will be welcome.   Show us your talent; it might be a great opportunity to practice for your debut on American Idol!

Stay in touch and hopefully together we can plan and implement another successful class reunion.

Jim
