1. Nancy Rainbolt Gray was the first child of John Joseph
Rainbolt and Mrs. Rainbolt. Nancy was about 1792 in
the washington co. Tenn. She married Jesse Gray on
8 july 1810 in wayne co. ky.. She died on 14 july 1877.
in Schuyler co. , MO. and is buried in the Liberty Cem.

2. John Joseph Rainbolt, her father was born 1770 or 1769
cunberland co. NC. he married mrs. [ unknown ]
about 1790 in the washington federal dist. of Tenn. AKA
washington co.

3. John father was Joseph Rainbolt born 1731 in cape fear,
near new hanover co. NC. He married Susanna Grandstaff about 1736 near cape fear. he died in 1791 at
at the Watauga Settlement, carter county NC. aka-
carter co. Tenn. he was buried at the Rainbolt Cem..
Now under water at the watauga resivior.

4. Joseph was the son of Mattheus Reinbold and Anna
eva Pickel [ Mullier ] this was her 2nd marrage.
Mattheus and Anna landed at nutten's inland in New York
harbor in june 1710. on the sailing ship James & Elizabeth, out of England. Mattheus was the first Rainbolt
to come to amercia. he was also known as Mattys. he was born about 1664. Mattheus died in NJ, about 1727

5. Mattheus was the son of Elias Reinbold born about 1639,
in Margrefischen, at Frauenalb,germany. near Bad
Durkheim, germany. Mattheus and his father where both
farmers, and grind mill workers. Elias married Clara
Spitzel on 2 aug. 1659. Elias died on 1 july 1674 at
Bad Durkheim, germany.

6. Elias was the son of Peter Reinbold born about 1619 in
in the same place.

Note: all of these Rainbolt's are german. even though the land
they lived on in the Rhienland Palatine. changed hand
thru very bitter wars from german to french and back
again. there go you see the name Reinbold as french
also.

PS: thier are many stories about the lives of the Rainbolt's
that would make you cry and shout for joy. But I don't
have time to speak of them right now.

We know this is true due to Jesse Gray's (b.1788/NC, d. 1877/MO, buried Liberty Cem, Schuyler Co, MO) 2nd marriage 1837/KY to Hannah Barnes. I'm a descendant of Jesse & Nancy Rainbolt Gray's daughter Margaret Jane Gray, b. 1828/Ind, d. 1918/MO, m. 1844/Ind David Green Mays/Maize, b. 1825/KY, d. 1865/MO. We've just tons of source documents for Margaret Jane & David G, her father Jesse as wells as most all of Nancy, Hannah & Jesse's children & descendants. When I say "we", I'm adding my Gray Cuz in Iowa who helped me research our Gray/Rainbolt & my Mays/Maize ancesters. Our research stopped at Nancy Rainbolt Gray & her father John as we could never locate source documents on John's father Joseph or beyond. This was why I posted my quiry. So, my question once again is, do you have source documents for the info you just sent? Or, could yo!

1. I have two nancy rainbolt's on my computer. they both show that they married a jesse gray. So i Have a problem to fix.

2. Nancy is not my direct Line, I have 4 different sources on her
and now that I look at them. They all have different dates. I will
research this and get back to you.

3. as for source doc's on her male up line, that is more involed
than I can lay out here. But I try to give you some.







4. Please keep in mind, that I have been working the theRainbolt
line for 40 years now. without going thru all my stacks of
papers sitting on my floor . I have to go by memory.

5. When I am working on a inderect Line. I always use what
the majority of direct line researchers agree on. or
some times I will check out the sources they list. for nancy's,
the main sources are Familysearch.org. [ ancestoral file #
1WD6-RMT ] , Postings by Gray decendants on ancestry.
com. and family notes in my possion since 1963 and
collected by my mother going back to the 1940's.

6. Ref: John Rainbolt, AKA John Joseph Rainbolt.
most people list him as john only. But I use joseph as his
middle name because of to sources that show this ,going back
to the 1960's. I belive the Joseph to be correct !!, but I can
not prove it without some lingering doubt. others show John
Rainbolt born in 1769 in wayne co. KY. This is not true!!!!!!!
he was born in cumberland co. NC. Along the catawaba River.
I have a copy of the Land deed of his father Joseph Rainbolt
showing that they lived there in 1770.

7. As for Joseph Rainbolt and his father to father line. I know
all of thier actual travels going back to germany. This info was
obtianed by me over a 20 year span using more than
100 historical websites. of historical names places and times.
And yes they are stacked in piles too.

8. the most accurate source For Mattheus,Elias, and Peter Reinbold. would be the original old german postings in
the church book records of the Evanglisch Luthererische church , of Bad Durkheim, germany. you can find the English
translations in the 3 volume set- Even more palatine germans ]
by Henry z Jones. [ pages 766 thru 768] Note they were all
Lutheran's down to mattheus.

9. To this date , no one knows who John Joseph rainbolt 1st
wife was. But I am from her line not he second wife's

PS: It is very important to check historical time Lines for Places.
in usgenweb web site. or other sites . To make sure of
the correct name of a place during that year. this is where
most people make thier mistakes as to birth places.

the british could not say Reinbold. So they said

Joseph had two more childern there. then on too washington count, NC aka washington dist. Tenn
later known as carter co. tenn.

word. Rein in the old german , both upper and lower german
means [clean] not pure. Pure is the English translation of the word Rein. But when you are doing Genealogy. You need to use the german meaning of the name. which is [ Clean]. more on the word Bold later. Reinbold is NOT SWISS,OR FRENCH,
OR ENGLISH!!!!! IT IS GERMAN from it's orgin. then to swiss

You may be right This is the way I have it.
Easter was buried at the Noth Roby cemetery or the Rainbolt Cemetery. There was also a place called Patterson but I cannot find it.
I have the arrest papers on the two Hinton's and the Statement from Sheriff Cunningham and the acquital statement. I have a letter from a Mr. Robertson asking his girlfreind to come to the Big Valey that it was'nt very dangurous any more, there was only one shooting and the only other thing was the Hinton Ranch house got sournded by the Mob last week and that Nancy got shot. The Hinton's chased the Mob off and some of the mob haven't been seen since. 1888.
Do you have story's like this about the Rainbolts.
There was a post office at Rainbolt for a year then they moved it to Roby and changed the name to Roby Post office. I have and old letter that states that Johnny Ringo was actually John Reinbold.

Hi! While I'm certainly NOT an authority, and my data could be wrong, I've got that John B. Rainbolt (11/11/1788-4/11/1873) was first married to Elizabeth Van Huss (9/17/1793-10/29/1826) in Carter Co., TN Jan 1812. John is found in Lawrence Co., Indiana in 1850, 1860 and 1870, and is buried in Storm Cemetery in Greene Co., INdiana.

I have that he married Freelove Boone (10/12/1794-8/2/1864) in Orange Co., Indiana 6/28/1827. She is also buried in Storm Cemetery in Greene Co., Indiana. (I have an alternate death date for her of 6/1/1866)

I have that John B. Rainbolt was the son Adam R. Rainbolt & Hannah Potter. I have that Elizabeth Van Huss was the dau. of Valentine Van Huss & Elizabeth Worley. I have that Freelove Boone was the dau. of Solomon Boone and Lavina Wells.

What do you have that indicates differently?
